Runing Season
(posted 21/06/2026)
DSMEE's summer running season has begun. We will be offering free miniature train rides to children every Saturday from 14:00 to 16:30, weather permitting. Rides will not operate during the Marlay Park concert season.

Ground Track Project
(posted 16/08/2026)
As some visitors to the park may have noticed, access to the ground track field in the park has been cordoned off. This is because groundwork has started on the field. As the sign at the entrance to the field explains, a new cricket pitch is being installed for Sandyford Cricket Club, as their current crease faces disruption every year due to the concerts. Our railway track is being reconfigured to run around the perimeter of the field, and a new pedestrian path is being installed which will run through the field and into the area currently used by DSMEE.
DSMEE is extremely grateful to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown for giving us the opportunity to provide valuable insight and feedback on this project, enabling us to continue to operate in the park and preserve the work of hard-working members of the society who made us what we are today.

Rules of the Rides
(valid for 2025)
- Please note that for Health and Safety reasons, there is a strict height requirement of one metre (~three feet). Children should also be three years of age or older. Personnel on duty at the station will check to see whether or not your child is tall enough to ride.
- Only children who can board trains unaided will be allowed ride.
- The wearing of cycling helmets or roller-skates on the trains is not permitted.
- Taking personal items like food, teddies or toys is also not allowed due to the risk of children dropping them while the train is moving.
- Parents or guardians of children with special needs should talk to the DSMEE members on duty at the station before their children travel on the trains.
- When the train is moving, riders must keep their feet on the carriage running boards. They must not lean out or try to reach for objects along the line.
- All trains carry a guard to supervise children and to ensure they are behaving safely. The guard can and will stop the train if children are not behaving safely. DSMEE reserves the right to refuse to carry children who cannot ride in a safe manner.
- We do not carry babies-in-arms under any circumstances.
