What's Happening to the Railway?
Over the next few years, DSMEE hopes to impliment the following new an exciting features to our base at Marlay Park.
- New multifunctional station.
- New storage facilities for our carriages and rolling stock.
- New solar panels for our workshop.
- New rolling stock.
- New path from the stable courtyard to the avenue.
- Relocated ground-level railway track.
Why are we doing this?
Ever since the society moved into Marlay Park, the intention was always to have passenger services on our ground track. However, due to a series of unfortunate circumstances, this vision never materialised outside of special occassions such as open days. Our weekly services have been limited to the raised track, operating out of our station on the avenue.
On top of this, the society's facilities are starting to show their age. While fine for a small club in 80s, forty years on both the club and the public's expectation of the services we provide have changed. we're running low on space in our workshops and more accomodating facilities are sorely needed.
This project seeks to solves all these issues. With a new, centralised station we will be able to offer train rides on our ground level line for adults as well as children! These new changes will revitalise our facilities and ensure the society can operate comfortably for another forty years, and hopefully many more beyond that!
Where can I learn more?

Shown here is a map of the Society's current layout. Our current ground level track (denoted in brown) will be relocated to create the new layout (denoted in blue) that will encircle our raised level track and our gauge 1 track (denoted in red and green respectively). A new branch line (in purple) connecting our engine sheds (marked in yellow) will also be built. The space cleared by the removal of our old track will make way for new park facilities.
