Start of Train Rides for 2018

Please note that the 2018 season of Saturday afternoon trains rides at DSMEE in Marlay Park will start on Saturday 5 May 2018. We sincerely hope that the 6,000 children we carried in 2017 enjoyed the experience, And we look forward to seeing them again any saturday afternoon between 2.30 pm and 5 pm, from May to September.

Trains run on Saturday afternoons from 2.30pm to 5 pm throughout the summer months, weather and concerts permitting. Free rides are provided for children on these trains, which are hauled by steam, electric or motor powered locomotives.

Please note that for Health and Safety reasons, adults are not allowed on the train and they are not permitted inside the barriers where the children board the train. Also, Health and Safety considerations require that only children at least 1 metre (3 ft 4 in) tall may be carried on the railway.

If any child requires special assistance, the clild's parent(s) or guardian(s) should discuss the requirements with the Station Master, a DSMEE volunteer who is supervises the operation.

Each train is manned by 2 members of the Society (Driver and Guard) and other members supervise the children when boarding and disembarking the train.

The Railway is run by volunteers, all members of the Society, every Saturday from May to September between 2.30pm to 5 pm, weather permitting.

Please note that the Railway does NOT operate on weekends when concerts are being held in Marlay Park. Therefore there will be no trains on Saturday 7 July 2018 or Saturday 14 July 2018.

Last year over 6000 children enjoyed riding on the Railway.
